Stock gifting represents a larger pool of assets and a smarter, tax-advantaged way for donors to support nonprofits. By making a pre-tax stock gift, a donor may avoid the capital gains tax while also deducting the market value of the gifted stock. Until now, less than one percent of nonprofits could accept stock gifts. DonateStock is closing that gap by enabling all nonprofits to solicit and receive gifts of appreciated stock – no brokerage required.

New DonorPerfect Online Forms Now Integrate with PayPal and Venmo

Allowing digital donations reduces checkout friction and increases conversions, studies say

(Fort Washington, PA) DonorPerfect, a leading fundraising platform for nonprofits, has released its new-and-improved DonorPerfect Online Forms feature, allowing organizations to collect donations digitally via PayPal and Venmo in the US.

This new functionality was developed to empower DonorPerfect clients to reduce checkout friction on their online donation forms, thus improving their form conversion rate, and turning supporters into loyal donors.

Research shows that including PayPal as a payment option on your online donation forms can dramatically increase unplanned gifts (by 32%)1 and repeat donations (by 79%).2 PayPal users are nearly four times (3.7x)3 as likely to donate when PayPal is an option, and 88 percent of them believe it’s the safest way to donate.4

The new DonorPerfect Online Forms reduce checkout friction and provide more benefits to nonprofits in 3 ways:

  • Supporters can submit their donations on their desktop, mobile, or tablet device, without using a physical bank card. Donors are able to check out using their PayPal or Venmo accounts.
  • Donors no longer have to bear the burden of entering their card or contact information. By signing in to their payment account, they can carry over their payment information without entering it manually.
  • Nonprofit organizations can capture accurate donor information, which will then be automatically updated in their DonorPerfect system.

In April, DonorPerfect released the new DonorPerfect Donation Forms to beta clients for feedback. Shannon Chalfont-Jones, Marketing Manager at The Point Arc, shared, “We are really excited about the comments from our donors saying how easy and intuitive the form is. It’s honestly overwhelming how many people have said it. It’s such a drastic improvement from the older form!”

(Fort Washington, PA), SofterWare , Inc., parent company of DonorPerfect – fundraising software to nonprofits worldwide – has announced the promotion of Lauren Sheehan to President.

In announcing the promotion, CEO Doug Schoenberg and retiring president, Dr. Nathan Relles, expressed their unbridled confidence in Lauren, as she continues to be part of an Executive team responsible for all aspects of the company’s business strategies and operations.

They stated in agreement that “Lauren’s achievements and passionate commitment to the company’s customers and employees will ensure that the company’s values will continue to strengthen the relationships that have sustained our success for 40 years.”

According to Dr. Relles, “Soon after joining SofterWare in 2008 as Client Relations Manager, Lauren managed the company’s first Community Networking Conference for four years, and was promoted to Director of Customer Care in 2015. She quickly established a record of hiring and building high-performing client service teams, and became a partner and Vice President in 2019. It was little surprise that shortly after that, Lauren was selected by the International Customer Management Institute as a finalist for the Best Contact Center Manager award!”

Schoenberg added, “Nothing demonstrates Lauren’s commitment to others like the countless people who advanced their professional skills and were promoted to other departments and leadership positions under her management and mentorship!”

Lauren’s path to business management and nonprofits had an early start. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh Summa Cum Laude, she worked at KEMA Registered Quality in Chalfont. From 2012-2014, she served as the Chairperson of the initiative to save Kids Castle, a beloved playground in Doylestown (see www.savekidscastle.org). Lauren continues to be involved in securing major donations to add to the playground, making it more accessible to children of all ages and abilities. The new “kingdoms” will address developmental needs of the whole child by intentionally providing opportunities for physical, cognitive, communicative, social/emotional and sensory development.

For the last three years, Lauren has also been on the board of Pennypack Farm & Education Center, a Community Supported Agriculture non-profit located in Horsham, PA, whose mission is dedicated to growing chemical-free produce in a sustainable way, teaching the community about the importance of healthy eating and sustainable farming practices, and contributing meaningfully to hunger-relief in the community. She currently serves as Co-Vice President there.

In her new role as President of SofterWare, Lauren’s primary responsibility will be planning and collaborating with the company’s Executive team – especially SofterWare’s Directors of Customer Care and Implementation, as well as the company’s evolving Human Relations efforts – all aimed at helping nonprofit organizations succeed in their missions.

DonorPerfect Fundraising Benchmarks Report Mockup

(Fort Washington, PA) DonorPerfect, a division of SofterWare, Inc. and leading fundraising success platform for nonprofits, has released a year in review report on growth in giving. The 2020 DonorPerfect Fundraising Benchmarks Report traces the decline of giving caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the slow recovery that debuted in Q3 and continued through Q4.

Data reveals differences in performance based on organization size and sector. Smaller nonprofits suffered the largest declines during the pandemic at -7%, while medium-sized organizations experienced a decline of -5.5% and larger organizations fell to just -3.6%. As the only sector to achieve positive giving growth, the Human Services sector ended the year up 1.6%. The weakest performing sectors included Arts, Culture & Humanities down 14.2% for the year and Education down 13.1%.

Although many organizations saw a decline in giving, the report does show that organizations that achieved strong donor retention experienced higher growth in giving than those that did not.
